Know Your Rights

Everyone in the United States has constitutional rights regardless of immigration status.

 

Remember:

✅ You have the right to remain silent.

✅ You do not have to answer questions about your immigration status.

✅ You do not have to consent to a search.

✅ Do not open your door unless officers present a judicial warrant signed by a judge.

✅ Ask to see any warrant through a window or have it slipped under the door.

✅ Do not sign any documents without first speaking with an attorney.

✅ If it is safe to do so, document what you witness—but never interfere with law enforcement activity.

• Keep a safe distance.

• Never interfere with law enforcement.

• Document only if it is safe to do so.

• Use S.A.U.L.T.E. when reporting.

• Verify information before sharing.

• Respect the privacy and dignity of those affected.

• If someone is detained, try to identify where they are taken and notify family or legal support if possible.
